Why a cube

With equal sides, the contents are always the right way round, however you set the box down. You do not have to think about orientation, and when stacking, the boxes line up in any direction. For anyone who wants a fixed packing routine, that reduces the risk of errors on the packing line.

A large box needs a rigid wall

Each side of this box measures 0.36 square metres. In a thin board grade, a panel that size can bulge or vibrate in transit. The 7 mm double wall keeps all six panels in shape, so the cube stays a cube and the stacking load is carried through the corners. If you need even more volume, pallet boxes are the next step.

How much does a filled cube of this size weigh?

That depends entirely on the contents. With light fill material you will stay well under 15 kg; with dense products 216 litres soon becomes too heavy to lift. Use the volume for light goods and choose a smaller size for dense products.

How do carriers charge for a box like this?

Almost always on volumetric weight. Using the usual conversion factors, 0.216 cubic metres comes to several tens of kilos. For larger quantities, shipping on a pallet is usually more economical than sending loose parcels.

How do I keep the side walls straight with soft contents?

Fill evenly from the bottom up and do not force the material hard against one wall. Then close the flaps straight away so the top helps the box hold its shape.
