Cardboard boxes 600 x 400 x 100 mm – Euro standard base, low model

The 600 by 400 mm base has not been chosen by chance. It is half the length and half the width of a Euro pallet. Because 600 x 400 mm is the internal dimension, the wall thickness brings the external dimensions to approximately 614 x 414 mm: with four boxes per layer, the stack overhangs the pallet edge by around 7 mm on each side. If you want no overhang, choose the 585 x 385 mm size. With a height of just 100 mm, you have a low model that builds up as a layer rather than as a single box. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for double wall shipping boxes, and we see this size mainly in warehouses with a fixed pallet build.

Applications

Flat products: panels, sheet material, printed matter, frames and flat plastic parts.
Sorted parts: a single layer of items side by side, easy to see when unpacking.
Pallet build: as the bottom or top layer beneath taller boxes with the same base.

A low box stands or falls by its base

The lower the box, the less the side walls contribute to its rigidity. Everything then depends on the base, which here measures 0.24 square metres. 7 mm double wall corrugated board gives that base the bending stiffness that single wall shipping boxes cannot achieve at this width. You can lift the filled box by two sides without the middle sagging.

How many boxes fit per layer on a Euro pallet?

Four. Because of the wall thickness, the external dimensions are approximately 614 x 414 mm, so the layer overhangs the 1200 by 800 mm pallet by around 7 mm on each side. If your pallet must stay strictly within the pallet edge – for example because your carrier charges a surcharge for overhang – choose the 585 x 385 mm size.

Can I combine this low box with taller sizes?

Yes. All boxes with the same 600 by 400 mm base stack on top of each other without staggering, regardless of height. So you can mix them within the same column.

Is this size suitable as a shipping box or only for internal use?

Both. For shipping, bear in mind that with some carriers the length exceeds the standard parcel size; check your carrier's rate in advance.
