A box that is clearly longer than it is wide calls for different contents than a cube. Think of mouldings, profiles, tool handles, long cable bundles or a set of parts laid end to end. At 450 mm long, 280 mm wide and 150 mm high, this is just such a model. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for shipping boxes, including the elongated sizes often missing from a standard range.

With an elongated box, bending is the risk: the middle of the long side takes the most stress as soon as you lift the box by its ends. The 7 mm double wall BC flute keeps that side straight, whereas single wall shipping boxes of the same length give noticeably.

How do I stop a long product from sliding in the box?

Place a block of void fill or a folded cardboard stop at both ends. A product that can move over 45 centimetres builds up speed against the end panel with every knock.

Is this size within standard parcel dimensions?

At 450 mm, you stay well within the maximum length for a standard parcel with most carriers. Do check the combined girth if you combine several of these boxes.

Why not just use a wider box?

Because empty space costs money: more void fill, more volumetric weight and a greater chance of shifting. A box that follows the shape of the contents packs faster and more safely.
