Cardboard boxes 430 x 300 x 350 mm – when height is the problem

Sometimes a product fits the footprint perfectly but sticks out just above the flaps. A wider box won't help then, but a taller one will. With a height of 350 mm on a 430 x 300 mm base, this model is designed for exactly that. Since 2007, Kortpack has been the go-to wholesaler for cardboard boxes, including the sizes that fall just outside the standard range.

A tall box places its own demands on the board. The higher the side wall, the sooner it buckles under lateral pressure. The 7 mm double BC flute gives the wall the rigidity that single wall board cannot achieve at this height, so the box stays upright even when fully loaded.

Upright appliances: coffee machines, blenders, small fans and lamp bases.
Tall retail packs: products that must stay upright all the way to the customer.
Fragile contents: room for a thick protective layer below and above the product.

Is a tall box less stable than a low one?

In itself, yes, but you solve that with the filling. Keep the centre of gravity low and fill the box right to the top; it then behaves as a single block and won't tip over.

How much protection fits above the product?

With most appliances, five to ten centimetres remain after placement. Enough for a foam sheet or a layer of air cushion film, so the top flaps rest on nothing.

Can I put these boxes in the same stack as the 300 mm tall model?

Yes, the footprint is identical. Do put the taller boxes in a layer of their own, so that the top of the stack stays level and the weight is carried evenly.
