This size of 410 x 310 x 240 mm was chosen with that in mind, with just enough clearance for a layer of void fill on each side. The 7 mm BC flute acts as a cushioning layer. Where a single wall shipping box passes on the impact of a drop almost undamped, double wall board first deforms and then springs back. Combined with void fill, this results in noticeably fewer damage claims.

Frequently asked questions

How much space should I leave around the contents?

For fragile products, allow at least three to five centimetres on every side. With this size, that still leaves a usable inner space of roughly 310 x 210 x 140 mm.

Does void fill work if the box is only half full?

Only if the contents cannot shift. A half-filled box with loose space above the contents is riskier than a completely filled one, so always fill the space at the top.

Why is this size 410 and not 400 mm?

The extra ten millimetres in length and width come from the internal sizing. For products that just won't fit in a 400 mm box, that is exactly the difference that counts.
