Cardboard boxes 400 x 280 x 280 mm – large volume in parcel format

At 400 x 280 x 280 mm, you are at the upper end of what can still comfortably be sent as a parcel. The box offers well over thirty litres of capacity and can still be lifted with two hands, which is often no longer the case with the next size up. Since 2007, Kortpack has been the go-to wholesaler for shipping boxes, and for many customers this is the largest size they keep on their packing line.

Large boxes get heavily loaded, and that is where the risk lies. At this volume the contents easily reach fifteen or twenty kilos – a weight under which single wall board visibly gives way. The 7 mm BC flute keeps both the base and the side walls taut, even when the box ends up at the bottom of a stack.

Bulky orders: several items or a complete set in one shipment.
Light but large products: contents that mainly need space and weigh little.
Consolidated shipments: smaller packs bundled in one outer carton.

When is it better to switch to a pallet box?

As soon as a shipment can no longer be lifted with two hands or consists of several of these boxes, one of our pallet boxes on a pallet becomes cheaper and safer than separate parcels.

How does volumetric weight work for this size?

Carriers often charge the higher of actual weight and volumetric (dimensional) weight. Measured over the external dimensions (approx. 41 x 29 x 29 cm), the latter comes to around seven kilos; if your shipment weighs more, the actual weight applies.

Is one strip of tape enough to seal it?

For the top, usually yes; for the base, no. Seal the bottom seam plus the two cross seams with strong packing tape before you fill the box.
