Cardboard boxes 400 x 250 x 250 mm – 40 cm long, square cross-section

This box is 400 mm long with a cross-section of 250 x 250 mm. Those proportions make it suitable for anything that can't be divided lengthwise: rolls, tubes, profiles and elongated parts that would leave far more empty space in a square box of the same volume. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for double wall shipping boxes, and these elongated sizes are very much part of the range.

With an elongated model, the lengthwise direction is the weak point: a 40 cm box tends to bend as soon as you grip it in the middle. The 7 mm BC flute double wall board prevents that. The wall is more than twice as thick as on single wall shipping boxes, so the box stays straight even when fully loaded.

What is the longest item that will fit?

Allow for about 39 cm of usable length. The internal length is 400 mm, but you need some space at both ends for void fill, so the contents don't press against the flaps.

How do I stop rolls sliding lengthwise?

Wedge them against one end and fill the remaining length with a wad or block of void fill. Lengthwise movement causes the hardest knocks when braking.

Can I stand these boxes upright on a pallet?

You can, but lying down is more efficient: the 400 x 250 mm footprint fits a Euro pallet better and keeps the stack lower and more stable.
