Is this box suitable for box-in-box shipping?

Yes, this size is ideal for it. Inner packaging up to roughly 300 x 200 x 120 mm fits inside with room for padding on every side, so the impact of a drop is taken by the outer box rather than the product itself.

How much space is there around an A4 item?

There is 48 mm to spare in length and 35 mm in width – just over 2 cm along both long sides and about 1.7 cm at both short ends. That is enough for a layer of corrugated board or bubble wrap.

What is the best way to seal the box?

Use strong packaging tape in an H pattern: one strip along the centre seam and one across each side seam. For fragile contents, warning labels tell the carrier the box needs careful handling.
