Cardboard boxes 188 x 188 x 177 mm – the near-cube in double wall

A box that is almost the same size on three sides packs differently from an elongated one: the contents sit in the centre with equal space on every side. That saves void fill and it saves time at the packing bench. With internal dimensions of 188 x 188 x 177 mm, this is exactly that kind of size. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for cardboard boxes, and this is one of the sizes customers keep on hand for repeat shipments.

The board is 7 mm double wall (BC flute). Two fluted layers between three flat liners create a wall that not only absorbs knocks but also withstands stacking pressure. That makes this size well suited to pallets on which the boxes are stacked several layers high.

Applications

Compact, heavy items: engine parts, sanitary fittings, electric motors and tools.
Fragile contents: enough room all round for a layer of void fill on every side.
Stock packaging: closed boxes that stand in the warehouse for months keep their shape.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the height 177 mm rather than 188 mm?

On a regular slotted container (RSC, FEFCO 0201) the flaps meet in the middle. The slightly lower height results from the board construction and ensures that the top flaps close neatly and flat.

How does BC flute differ from single wall?

BC flute combines a coarser B flute with a finer C flute to form a wall of around 7 mm. Single wall comes to about 3 mm. You notice the difference mainly with heavier contents and when stacking.

Do these boxes fit on a Euro pallet?

Yes, this size is supplied on a Euro pallet and can be stacked without overhang.
