Cardboard boxes 1180 x 270 x 300 mm – a tube box for long, slim goods

Profiles, tubes and mouldings are hard to pack in an ordinary box: they are too long, too slim and too prone to kinking. This tube-shaped version is made for exactly that, with internal dimensions of 1180 mm long and 270 by 300 mm in cross-section. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for shipping boxes for businesses that ship elongated products and cannot find a standard size for them.

With a box of almost 1.20 metres, bending stiffness is everything. The 7 mm double wall BC flute ensures the box supports its contents instead of hanging loosely around them. An aluminium profile therefore arrives straight rather than with a kink halfway along.

Carrier length surcharges

As soon as a parcel is longer than one metre, parcel carriers charge a length surcharge or route the shipment through their network as non-conveyable. At 1180 mm, this box falls into that category, but it stays below the 1.20 metres many carriers use as their upper limit. If you ship these regularly in larger numbers, bundling them on a long pallet is often cheaper.

Frequently asked questions

How do I protect the ends?

They are the most vulnerable point: if the box is dropped on a corner, all the force ends up there. Leave a few centimetres of space at both ends and fill it with foam or folded cardboard.

Can the contents be slightly longer than 1180 mm?

No. The stated size is the internal dimension, and the flaps need to close flat. If your product does not quite fit, choose a longer version.

Is one strip of tape enough for such a long seam?

Tape the entire length of the seam and secure both ends crosswise. At this length, a dispenser with a 50 mm roll of packing tape is quicker than loose strips.
