Long detectable cable tie TY528MR-NDT by Thomas & Betts – blue, 360 x 4.8 mm, 100 pieces

One tie for both thin and thick bundles saves stock space and searching in the workshop. The TY528MR-NDT is an obvious choice for that: with a length of 360 mm and a 4.8 mm strap it closes around anything from 3.5 to 102 mm in diameter. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and maintenance departments in food processing frequently order this length. It is sold in bags of 100.

The strap is polyamide 6.6 with a metallic compound that is visible to metal detectors and X-ray systems, so even a trimmed tail that ends up in the product is rejected at inspection. In the head, a non-magnetic 316 stainless steel barb grips the strap at any point, just like our other metal tooth cable ties. According to ABB, the material is halogen- and silicone-free.

Reach without extra weight

The long, slim strap is ideal for enclosing a large circumference without putting heavy stress on the bundle. At 222 N it has the same tensile strength as the 186 mm TY525MR-NDT, but roughly twice the reach. It can be used from -40 °C to +85 °C; UV resistance is not specified.

Should I choose the TY528MR-NDT or the TY527MR-NDT?

At 6.9 mm, the TY527MR-NDT is wider and stronger (534 N) and intended for heavy bundles. The TY528MR-NDT is slimmer, reaches 222 N and is the better choice for large but light bundles.

How does a metal detector recognise this plastic tie?

A compound containing metallic particles is incorporated into the polyamide. Detectors and X-ray systems respond to it, even when the piece does not include the metal barb.

Can I use this long tie on small bundles too?

Yes, from 3.5 mm in diameter. Cut off the excess after tightening and collect it, so that no offcuts are left behind in the production area.
