Thick hose packs, supply cables for large motors or a bundle of pipes along a frame: a narrow tie soon reaches its limits there. The TY527MR-NDT is the heaviest detectable Ty-Rap in our range, with a 6.9 mm wide strap and a tensile strength of 534 N. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and we supply this version in bags of 50.

The strap is polyamide 6.6 with a metallic compound, so even a trimmed tail or a broken piece is found by metal detection and X-ray. The bright blue colour supports visual checks. On this wide strap, a non-magnetic 316 stainless steel barb in the head keeps the tie in place even under high tension. You will find the same locking principle across all our metal tooth cable ties.

Which tool should I use to tension this wide tie?

It can be done by hand, but a tensioning tool applies consistent tension and cuts the excess flush. That avoids sharp edges and makes it easy to collect every trimmed piece.

Is the TY527MR-NDT also available in black or natural?

The same size of Ty-Rap is available as the TY527MXR in black and the TY527MR in natural, also in bags of 50. These are not detectable and are meant for areas outside the product zone.

Can I treat 534 N as a load rating?

No. Tensile strength is the force at which the lock or strap fails, not a permitted working load. Always allow a generous safety margin when suspending weight.
