Extra long for thick wiring looms: Thomas & Betts TY450-120-50 natural, 457 x 7.6 mm

Some bundles are simply too thick for an ordinary cable tie – a complete wiring loom entering a control cabinet, say, or a package of lines running along a machine. The TY450-120-50 wraps bundles up to 130 mm in diameter and, at 534 N, has enough margin to keep them tight. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties; we supply this long natural version in bags of 50, a practical quantity for project work.

The tie is made of polyamide 6.6, free of halogens and silicone and rated UL 94 V-2. Like every Ty-Fast, it has a nylon pawl moulded into the head, offering low insertion force and high locking strength. The SureGrip tab and finger grip on the tail make it easier to feed such a long strap through. For more light-coloured ties, see our white cable ties.

Where the extra length pays off

This natural tie is not UV stabilised and is therefore meant for indoor use. That is where it excels on large, heavy bundles that an ordinary tie can no longer get around. The 7.6 mm strap also spreads the pressure over a larger area than a narrow tie.

Why is this tie 457 mm rather than 450 mm?

The TY450-120-50 is based on an imperial size: 18 inches equals 457 mm. The part number refers to the rounded length, while the actual length is 457 mm.

Is there an outdoor version of this long tie?

Yes, the TY450-120X is the black, UV-resistant version from the same Ty-Fast series. This natural version is best kept out of the sun, as the polyamide becomes brittle over time.

How heavy can the bundle be?

The stated tensile strength is 534 N, approx. 54 kg. That is the load at which the tie fails, so allow a generous safety margin in practice. For heavier loads there are wider heavy-duty ties.
