Thomas & Betts TY400-120-100: wide natural Ty-Fast cable tie, 375 x 7.6 mm, 100 per bag

When a thick wiring loom inside a control cabinet or on a machine frame has to stay put, a narrow tie soon runs out of strength. That is the job the TY400-120-100 is made for. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and panel builders in particular reach for this wide version when a bundle of up to 102 mm in diameter is under load. With 540 N tensile strength, you get more than twice the margin of a standard tie of the same length.

The strap is made of polyamide 6.6, is free of halogens and silicone, and carries a UL 94 V-2 rating. The low, rounded head contains a moulded-in nylon pawl: the tail feeds through with little effort, yet once pulled tight the lock holds firmly. Applications for a wide indoor tie

This natural version is not UV stabilised, so it belongs indoors: in cabinets, machinery and plant rooms. That is where the combination of 375 mm length and a 7.6 mm strap really pays off, letting you wrap large bundles and hold heavy lines firmly in place.

Frequently asked questions about the TY400-120-100

Can I use this natural cable tie outdoors?

We would not recommend it. Natural polyamide is not UV stabilised and becomes brittle in sunlight over time. For outdoor work, the black TY400-120X-100 is the right choice.

What does -100 in the part number mean?

The -100 suffix refers to the packaging: 100 cable ties per bag. It is a convenient quantity for a service van or for a project where a large box would be too much.

When should I choose the 7.6 mm version over the TY400-50-100?

Both ties are roughly the same length, but the wider strap of the TY400-120-100 is rated at 540 N against 222 N for the narrower TY400-50-100. Go for the wide version when the bundle is heavy or under tension.
