Banners on site fencing, temporary lighting, extension leads along a stage: outdoors, a tie has to go on quickly and then stay put. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and for this kind of work we often recommend the TY125-40X-100. This black, UV-resistant 141 x 3.6 mm tie has a tensile strength of 180 N and bundles from 1.5 to 32 mm. Each bag holds 100 pieces.

The heat-stabilised polyamide 6.6 is protected from sunlight by its black pigment. The nylon pawl is integrated in the head and engages the teeth as soon as you pull, so the job is done in one movement. The SureGrip tab means you keep hold of the tail even with cold fingers. The material is halogen- and silicone-free. You will find other lengths among our black cable ties.

Where the TY125-40X-100 earns its keep outdoors

At 141 mm there is enough length to fix a cable to a pipe or mesh, while the 3.6 mm strap is strong enough for light fixings that catch the wind. It works just as well indoors, of course.

Can I install the TY125-40X-100 outdoors in winter?

Yes, the tie can be fitted at ambient temperatures down to -20 °C. Once in place, it remains serviceable down to -40 °C.

How much load can the tie take?

Its tensile strength is 180 N, roughly 18 kg. That is plenty for cables and light fixings. For heavier loads or significant wind loading, choose a wider heavy duty tie.

How does it differ from the TY125-40-100?

Dimensions and tensile strength are identical. The TY125-40X-100 is black, UV resistant and heat-stabilised, so it is also suitable outdoors; the natural TY125-40-100 is intended for indoor use.
