Printed barrier tape, 4 colours
Printed barrier tape in 4 colours
Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for printed barrier tape, and this is the most elaborate print in the range. Four print colours leave room for a complete logo with its secondary colours, a pictogram, a line of text and a second sender on one and the same tape. Nothing of your corporate identity has to be left out at the very moment you reach the largest audience. The tape itself remains a hard-working product: 60 micron LDPE film that stays taut once tensioned.

What four print colours give you
One or two colours make a cordon recognisable; four colours turn it into a presentation tool. There is space left beside the logo, and that space is exactly where the elements go that usually get dropped: the pictogram that explains your service, a strapline, a web address or a partner's emblem. From a width of 100 mm upwards, that kind of layout comes into its own.
Brand impact at exhibition stands and public events
On an exhibition floor, at a product launch, a shop opening or a large public event, the tape is rarely just a cordon. It runs between barrier posts along a walking route, hangs across an entrance that has not opened yet, or marks the zone around a demonstration model – always at eye level and always in shot. Four colours make sure that what hangs there is your corporate identity and not generic red and white. The message repeats over hundreds of metres, in photographs and in the livestream of the day itself.
Four spot colours are not full colour
One point to be clear about up front: four print colours are not the same as full-colour or CMYK photographic printing. Each colour is a separate, solid ink applied in its own pass. Photographs, gradients, drop shadows and soft transitions are therefore not possible. What you do get is a crisp, opaque result: areas and lines in precisely the colours you specify, consistent along the full length of the roll. If your logo contains a gradient or a photographic element, we convert it with you into four flat colour areas and you see the outcome on the print layout.
From your artwork to the print proof
- You send us your logo and text, preferably as a vector file with the colours specified.
- We separate the design into four print colours and send you a print layout at actual width.
- On your approval, the four printing plates are set up and the tape is produced.
What is the minimum order quantity?
The minimum order is 1500 metres: 6 rolls of 250 metres. That sounds like a lot, but an event of any size uses it up quickly – and whatever is left over goes out again the following year. For the jobs in between, without any set-up costs, take a look at unprinted barrier tape or the wider barrier tape range, which is available per roll.
Choosing the colour of the tape itself
With a four-colour print, the background is a design decision in its own right. White tape is by far the most common choice: all four colours appear true to specification and you are entirely free in your colour selection. On red, yellow, green, blue or orange tape the print acts as a contrast colour and we normally print in black, which limits the number of colours that remain effective. Black tape is printed in gold, silver or bronze – highly presentable for openings and gala evenings, but less suited to a print using four corporate colours. If you are hesitating between two backgrounds, settle that choice before the design is made: the legibility of your colours depends directly on it.

Frequently asked questions about 4-colour printed barrier tape
Can a photograph or a gradient be printed on the tape?
No. Four colours means four separate, solid inks, not photographic printing. Photographs, gradients and shadow effects cannot be reproduced this way. A photographic logo is redrawn as flat artwork: reduced to four clear colour areas with a clean outline. The print layout shows you exactly how that works out before anything is printed.
How much does the fourth colour affect the price?
Every additional colour requires its own printing plate and its own print pass, so the one-off set-up costs are higher for four colours than for fewer. Those costs are incurred once: the more metres you order, the less they weigh per metre. On larger runs the gap with a two- or three-colour version narrows considerably. Request a quotation for your own quantity and you will see the difference in concrete terms.
How can I be sure the result is right before production starts?
You always receive a print layout at actual width first: your design as it will appear on the tape, including the distribution of the four colours and the position of the repeat. Check the spelling, the colour references and the legibility of the smallest text on it. Only after your written approval does the roll go into production, so nothing is printed that you have not seen.
Can I include a second logo or a sponsor line?
Yes, and that is one of the main reasons to choose four colours: the fourth colour is often the corporate colour of a partner or sponsor. Supply both logos as vector files. Bear in mind that two senders side by side need room: from 100 mm wide everything stays clearly legible, while 50 or 75 mm quickly becomes crowded.
How should I store the tape after an event?
Roll the tape up tightly and store the rolls dry, cool and dark, flat or upright, without stacking heavy boxes on top. Above all avoid heat and direct sunlight – a closed van or container standing in the sun is the most common reason for ink sticking to the next layer of film. That keeps the colours opaque and the roll ready for another season.
