Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for double-sided printed barrier tape. This version is made from a multi-layer LDPE film of 120 microns: twice as thick as standard barrier tape and therefore opaque. Your print stays sharp and legible on both faces – and, if you wish, each face can carry a completely different message. It is the premium option in our printed tape range.

Show-through and mirrored text: the problem this film solves

Single-sided printed tape consists of one thin layer of film. Walk around such a cordon and you are looking at the back of the print: the text shows through the film and appears mirrored. From that side there is nothing useful to read – at best a faint smudge where your logo should be. And with a cordon that runs freely through a space or along a route, half of your audience is usually standing on exactly that side.

A multi-layer build at 120 microns

This film is built up from several layers that block the light. As a result the tape is not see-through: the print on one face does not shine through to the other, and both faces come out equally crisp. The 120 microns are not an added extra but the direct result of that layered build – and they deliver a noticeably sturdier tape than the standard version.

Two faces, two messages

Each face gets its own print run, in up to 4 colours per side. You can have the same print applied to both faces, but you may just as easily make them completely different: a warning facing the hazard zone, your company or sponsor name facing the public. A bilingual cordon is solved the same way – one language per face.

Applications where that difference counts

Picture a walkway through a production hall: facing the machines, the engineer reads “Machine running – do not enter”; facing the walkway, the visitor sees only your corporate identity. Or take a route at a cycling race or city run: on the outside the crowd looks at your sponsor's name, on the inside the participants and marshals read the safety instruction. The same principle applies around an excavation in a shopping street, around an exhibition stand or along a closed walkway in a car park: on each side of the tape stands a different person with a different question.

From artwork to print proof, and the minimum order

You supply your logo and text, preferably as a vector file, clearly indicating which design belongs on which face. We turn that into a print layout at actual width – separately for each face – so you can see in advance how the print runs continuously along the roll and where the repeat falls. Production starts only after you have approved both faces.

For hanging your cordon we supply poles and cases for barrier tape; for straightforward cordons without a print there is unprinted barrier tape, and indoors you can fix the tape in place with tape or cable ties.

Frequently asked questions about double-sided printed barrier tape

Can each side carry a different print?

Yes. The two faces are laid out and printed independently, each in up to 4 colours. You can combine a warning message on one side with your logo on the other, or place two languages back to back. The print layout shows both faces separately.

Why does this film not show through when ordinary tape does?

Ordinary barrier tape is a single thin layer of film that light partly passes through, which is why the print on the far side shows up mirrored. This film is built from several layers that block the light. Each face therefore stands on its own and reads as if there were nothing behind it.

Is the thicker tape stronger, and suitable for longer spans?

At 120 microns there is considerably more material in the tape than in standard film, so it tears less easily and copes better with wind and tension. Across longer distances between two fixing points it therefore stays tauter. For very long spans we still recommend intermediate posts: even thick tape is still film, and it is intended for temporary cordons.

Is this tape available in a colour other than white?

The multi-layer film is produced in white. That is deliberate: a white background allows any print colour and gives the highest contrast, including when the two faces carry different artwork. If you are looking for coloured tape, you will find it in the single-sided printed barrier tape, which comes in several tape colours.

When is double-sided printing worth the extra cost?

As soon as your cordon is seen from two sides. If the tape hangs against a facade, a fence or a wall, nobody sees the back and single-sided printing is perfectly adequate. If the tape runs freely through a space, along a route or around a stand, the same metres reach twice as many readers – and you can give each of those two groups a message of their own.
