## How do you fasten a cable tie?

A cable tie – also known as a tie-wrap or bundling strap – closes with a self-locking ratchet head. As soon as you push the pointed end through the head and it passes the first tooth, the strap can no longer move back. You tighten the tie by hand or use a [cable tie plier](en/closure-materials/cable-ties/cable-ties_pliers), which pulls the strap to a preset tension and immediately trims the excess end flush.

### How sustainable is a recycled cable tie?

The strap consists largely of reused polyamide 6.6, which lowers the demand for new material while the tensile strength is retained.

### Will the cable tie damage my cables?

Not with normal tightening; the wide strap distributes the pressure. Do not tighten the tie more than necessary to protect the insulation of sensitive cables.

### What is this cable tie resistant to?

The polyamide 6.6 is UV-stabilised and resistant to diluted acids and oils. The tie can be used at temperatures of roughly -40 to +80 °C, suitable for most indoor and outdoor applications.
