These black cable ties are used across a wide range of industries, among other things for:

- bundling electrical and data cables;
- bundling nets, tarpaulins and covers;
- temporarily securing objects to fencing or racks;
- securing pipework and structural parts;

In practice, this size is common in transport and logistics, shipping and offshore, and construction and infrastructure.

## How do you fasten a cable tie?

You place the band around the bundle, push the pointed end through the head and pull until the desired tension is reached; the self-locking teeth hold the tie permanently in place. For consistent tension and a safe, flush cut, a [cable tie plier](https://www.kortpack.nl/en/closure-materials/cable-ties/cable-ties_pliers) is recommended.

For heavier bundles, there are [extra-strong cable ties](https://www.kortpack.nl/en/closure-materials/cable-ties/heavy-duty-tyraps). For the food and pharmaceutical industry, there are [detectable cable ties](https://www.kortpack.nl/en/closure-materials/cable-ties/detectable-tyraps).

## Frequently asked questions

### Are these cable ties suitable for heavy bundles?

Yes, the greater width provides a high tensile strength. For the very heaviest applications, there are special heavy-duty cable ties.

### Will the cable tie damage my cables?

Not with normal tightening; the wide band spreads the pressure. Do not tighten the tie more than necessary to protect the insulation of sensitive cables.

### What else are cable ties used for besides cabling?

Besides cables, they are used to bundle hoses, pipes and nets, and to temporarily fasten material to fencing, racks or structures.
